Peregrine O′Gormley

Born in a green International pick-up on Route 66, in front of the Canyon Gun Shop, Peregrine O’Gormley began life on the move. He grew up on 40 acres of woods and grazing land rife with wildlife in the mountains of central New Mexico. His namesake the Peregrine Falcon, tied him to the beauty and vitality of the natural world. In addition to careful observation and reverence for nature, his father instilled sincere concern for its well-being.

He earned a degree in biology from The Colorado College.  In 2006, after his share of world travel, he moved to La Conner, WA, where he built a home overlooking Puget Sound. He is the proud father of three delightful children.

O’Gormley works from his home studio, carving his original work from wood and stone. Careful to avoid the harvest of living wood, he works with dead down material.

His artwork has been featured in group and solo shows across the country; Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum (Wausau, WI), National Museum of Wildlife Art (Jackson, WY), Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, and Woolaroc Museum (Bartlesville, OK). His artwork is represented by Smith & Vallee Gallery (Edison, WA), Gerald Peters Gallery (Santa Fe, NM), and Simpson Gallagher Gallery (Cody, WY).

Fine Art Connoisseur magazine selected O’Gormley for its “Up and Coming Artists: Three to Watch” feature in 2017. He has won multiple National Sculpture Society awards including the Pat Munson Prize for Avian Sculpture in both 2017 and 2015, and the Green-Wood Cemetery Award in 2016. In 2019, he was honored with the Southwest Art Award at the Coors Western Art Exhibit (Denver, CO).

He was featured in American Art Collector magazine for his recent solo exhibition at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art in 2020 and was honored to show with Woolaroc Museum retrospective and sale in 2021.
